In my opinion, this quote above is exactly what the world is without advertising. Advertising creates a huge impact toward consumers and the brand itself; without it, it is nearly impossible to gain or attract consumers' interest and trust towards the brand. To make it simpler, without advertising, the brand is technically non-existence to the general audience.
I remember my very first advertisement that I happened to see on television almost every year during Ramadan, which was the Yusuf Taiyob advertisement where it is well-known for manufacturing quality and delicious dates.
Let's take this ad as an example. Yusuf Taiyob is able to do well in business because they included advertising as part of their promotional strategy. Every single year when Ramadan arrives, we''ll think of Yusuf Taiyob's dates. When we look at dates, we think of Yusuf Taiyob. When we turn on the television, there will be an ad of Yusuf Taiyob. Now, imagine if the situation were to be reversed where the company does not advertise their products. If this occurs, how will people be aware of the products that the company is selling? Every Ramadan will just be like a normal month. When we look at dates, nothing comes in mind. When we look at Yusuf Taiyob's brand in the supermarket, it will feel just like the other regular dates.
Well, looking from the company perspective, they know exactly what they are selling, however, they are the only person who knows when no one else does. When it is not known to the public, then there will be no consumer to support the business, eventually forcing the business to vanish from the market.
Hence, this is why advertising is crucial. Not just for business, but for everyone.
