In graphic design, there are 6 crucial elements which are:
Line
Shape
Size
Color
Value
Texture
These elements are the vocabulary of graphic design and the fundamental ideas about the practice of good visual design. Therefore, in today's blog post, I have chosen 2 posters that I believe have all the elements listed above.
This is a cover/poster of a book, titled The Man Who Died by D.H. Lawrence. I chose this poster because I think it is a good poster that included all the elements. It has a texture of an old rustic paper that creates a mystery feelings upon seeing it. The weird and unique shapes add interests to this poster. The colors used are also in contrast where the black-colored shape on top is placed against the lighter color which is yellow. The color choices are also great because black and dull colors are usually associated with evil and darkness.
The next poster that I chose is a poster of Falles De Valencia from 1989. Falles is a traditional celebration held annually in Valencia, Spain.
This poster has a really interesting design. The colors used in the poster are full of varieties like pink, green, yellow, and blue. By including colorful elements, it conveys a festivity mood. Hence, when people look at this poster, they will feel happy and excited. It uses dark background but with lighter elements on top of it to show some contrast. Lastly, this poster also has a texture that gives it a little bit of a personality and most definitely attract attention of the potential audience.
